General Introduction

The Vietnam Research Institute of Electronics, Informatics and Automation - VIELINA - was formally founded on the 29th January 1985 by Decree No 20/HĐBT by the Ministers Council (now the Government). The Institute is the State-Owned Research and Development institution in the field of Electronics, Informatics and Automation, and directly belongs to the Ministry of Industry and Trade

Nearly 30 years of development, the Institute  has supervised and carried out 51 State-level R&D projects, 106 ministerial level projects and 02 international inter-governmental projects. Among them 4 have been awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, 2 has won Medal of VIFOTEC 1999 and VIFOTEC 2008. Many electronic and automation products with VIELINA trade mark are based on outstanding results of R&D projects. The Institute has published 254 R&D papers, and has been chosen as the steering institution for the State Program of Science and Technology  on Automation through 3 consecutive terms (1991-2005).

In parallel to R&D activities, the Institute has also supervised a number of Ph.D. students.

With such achievements, the Institute has been awarded the Labor Medal, Rank 2 and 3 by the President of Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In the role of a key R&D institution under Ministry of Industry and Trade, beside the general focuses of R&D activities in the field of Electronics, Informatics and Automation, the Institute will focus on applications in Energy industry, Environment Monitoring and Protection, Health Care, Education & Training  for the years to come
